Why LuminOre®

With the exception of a few paints used to add a splash of color, our signs and plaques are metal-coated using the patented LuminOre® advanced composite metalizing process. Janey Freid is the founder and current principle of both Metal Facades and Atlas Signs and Plaques. Janey’s background is decorative faux finishing utilizing paints, glazes, plasters and leafs applied using many European techniques and tools. Janey expanded from faux finishing and enjoyed great success in interior and exterior decorative concrete acid staining and finishing and now has grown to selling signs all over the world. What Else Can Be Transformed by the Metal Coating?

Transformed We thought some of the transformations from the common to the beautiful that we have accomplished would be an interesting photo essay. The Cold Spray Metal that Atlas Signs & Plaques uses is manufactured by LuminOre®. Using this fantastic process allows us to apply real metal to almost any substrate imaginable. Here are a few of the more unusual and interesting projects that we have done in our past. Driftwood Sculpture - From Wood to "Are Those Solid Cast"? Driftwood Metal Coated After receiving 8 real Florida driftwood sculptures from artist, Carol Woodland at All Driftwood Furniture, they were unpacked, primed, and coated with real bronze. The patinator (Janey) then did their magic, adding a measure of depth, highlights, and interest to these, most unusual art pieces. How Atlas Signs and Plaques Makes Our Ornaments

Our ornaments are handmade by our team, just like the signs here at Atlas Signs And Plaques. Handcrafted one by one. We take great pride in our work and we would enjoy briefly sharing how our ornaments are made. To start, after we metal coat the signs we take the excess metal coating and pore it into a custom silicon mold, uniquely designed by us. Due to the fact that we do not waste our materials and only use remaining metals, each ornament is individually layered and therefore is a rare beauty. The beginning stages of the ornaments, fresh out of the mold. Once the metals dry and fuse together, they are taken to the abrasive blast cabinet to remove all impurities, before being moved to our transformation room.
