All signs and plaques have a substrate of man-made materials. Specifically, 30 pound High Density Urethane(HDU) sign board. This is a product that was developed for the aerospace industry and has been used for signage for over 40 years. We coat our HDU signs and plaques with a cold-applied, real metal coating that is in use world-wide as an architectural and industrial coating. It is a well-proven, tough, and beautiful coating that gives the look of cast metal without the limitations, price, or weight.
Every sign or plaque created by Atlas Signs and Plaques is handcrafted, meaning made-by-hand. That means that your plaque is totally unique from every other, and has been “touched” by many different hands. Different hands mean that there are variations in the look and finish of your sign. Your plaque undergoes 8 different steps before it is shipped off to you. Each step imparts a level of uniqueness making every plaque a true one-of-a-kind customized purchase.
These normal variations, little bumps, waves, and other variations in the finish, that might be called defects by some, are part of the charm that only a handcrafted item can deliver.
At Atlas, we celebrate these variances. They make our creation, and your plaque, incomparable.
Like windows, ceramic garden art, and countless other examples, our signs and plaques are not immune to breakage and or denting if dropped, struck, or banged. “Exterior” means that the plaque “will not rust, rot, fade, or promote insects” and does not have any correlation with “breakability” before it is mounted in place. Our process is not repairable using original materials. However, accidents do happen. If you inadvertently drop or otherwise damage your purchase and get a dent, try a little stain, dye, paint or even a colored marker to cover the blemish. Practice on the back or a less conspicuous area first. We can not fix it, and need to start from scratch, and of course, charge, if you require a replacement.
To be repetitive. Our Signs and Plaques are very durable, but will not stand up to repeated abuse. If you wish to embed a plaque in the ground then attack it with a mower and weed wacker, over-tighten the mounting screws, pound on it with a hammer, or look at it in 500 years, you should order a foundry-cast plaque. Your order will ship from our Delta CO, USA facility about three weeks from your order and payment date. “About” means “about”, not “exactly” or “sooner if I whine”. If your order has custom graphics and designs it will ship about three weeks from when all the artwork is approved by you, and payment is received. We can never promise a date that you will receive your order as it is out of our control once it leaves us. We can only make every attempt to have your order leave our facility in a timely manner, and to do our best to meet any commitments we have made. Things happen. equipment breaks, blizzards occur, electricity goes out, our suppliers don’t deliver, etc, etc. We take our part very seriously, however we can’t make a firm guarantee of either completion or shipment date.
Atlas Signs and Plaques reserves the right to ship our most current designs which may vary from our online catalog and photos. We also reserve the right to make text, font, punctuation, and design changes to facilitate readability, our methods and materials, and suitability to the sign size. Our online catalog contains photos of real signs and plaques, however we reserve the right to make changes to give the most pleasing appearance, in our opinion.
We do not spell check and therefore you are responsible for wording, punctuation, and spelling. Orders and content must be verifiable and have a record, therefore, verbal orders are seldom accepted without a written confirmation.
Atlas Signs and Plaques usually gets right to work on your plaque. The next step after receiving your order involves cutting the design into your sign. Once that is done, there is no opportunity for changes without additional charge. Changes after the cutting step necessitate starting over. If you must make a change, we will be as kind financially to you as possible. The price for starting over depends entirely upon how close your plaque is to completion. There is no chance of a total refund for any reason once we have started.
Due to variances in materials utilized for your sign or plaque, colors may have differences and variations. Metal finishes are also affected by the ambient conditions in our shop during our creation process. Colors also present differently in photos than to the human eye, and each computer monitor and browser combination renders colors differently. All of these variables are a normal occurrence, and therefore Atlas Signs and Plaques cannot offer warranty protection against color variations. Bottom line is we only ship what we like and we, and not you, make the final determination of whether the product meets specifications.
We usually ship UPS Ground Service. USPS Priority Mail, USPS Priority International, UPS 2day are other options for some time sensitive or large shipments. We may offer to get an approximate cost estimate for truck shipments. For truck shipment prepaid by Atlas, we will charge you via your credit card for an additional amount if final billing exceed the amount you prepaid. You do have the option of selecting your preferred carrier and we encourage you to do that as it will likely be less costly. We may require lift gate services on our end which can be a factor. For international orders you are responsible for any tariffs, taxes and any other fees associated with your location. Please don’t ask us to misrepresent the description of what we are sending you in an attempt to avoid tariffs or customs fees.
To help prevent delivery delays, please double check the shipping address prior to submitting your order. The most common mistakes made when providing us with a shipping address are incorrect zip code, missing company name, missing suite or apartment number, and wrong street number.
In all fairness, packages that are returned to us because of an incorrect or incomplete address will be charged shipping charges again when your package is reshipped. In addition, any fees billed to us by shipping agencies for address correction or address change will be charged to you when we receive them. UPS bills $5.00 for correction of each ground package and $10.00 for correction of each air package regardless of how minor the address correction may be.
We complete our projects on time and ship in a manner and time that will get your order to you as requested. However, we are not responsible for delays caused by weather, wrecks, strikes, strife, or anything out of the ordinary that might affect shipping times.
Unfortunately we can not accept requests for a parcel carrier to leave a package without signature or at a specific location at your home (for example, your garage, backyard, front porch, hallway, with the neighbor, etc.). If you have a specific delivery request, we suggest placing a note on your door for the parcel carrier with your request and signature.
An order may not be canceled once it is “In Production.” If the order is still in the preflight or proofing stage, it may be canceled subject to the following fees, when applicable:
- Orders placed, paid for and then canceled before 4 p.m. MT on the same day may be refunded in full or booked as store credit to be applied to future orders;
- Orders below $100 will not be subject to cancellation fees;
- Orders from $100 to $500 will be subject to a $15.00 cancellation fee;
- Orders $500 and above will be subject to a cancellation fee of 3.5% of the full order amount;
- Any design or proof fee will NOT be refunded once the design/proof process has started.
URGENT AND IMPORTANT: Atlas Signs and Plaques packs all shipments in a careful and thoughtful manner. Atlas Signs and Plaques is NOT RESPONSIBLE for damage occurring in transit including any CONCEALED DAMAGES. It is your responsibility to Inspect your shipment immediately upon delivery. Be sure all packages received are accounted for and are in good condition prior to signing or accepting them. If there is any sign of damage, you must note it on the receipt and open the package in the presence of the delivery person, and, have the delivery person countersign the acknowledgement of damage.
Any Loss or Damage discovered at or after delivery must be REPORTED IMMEDIATELY to Alta’s Signs and Plaques. No claim will be honored if more than 5 business days have elapsed from day of delivery.
YOU MUST RETAIN ALL CARTONS AND PACKING MATERIALS IN THE EXACT CONDITION AND LOCATION AS DELIVERED FOR INSPECTION BY THE CARRIER IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN ANY RIGHT TO A DAMAGE CLAIM. ANY FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN THE INSTANT DENIAL OF ANY DAMAGE CLAIM AND ANY ALL ALL RIGHTS TO REIMBURSEMENT OR REPLACEMENT.
IN OTHER WORDS AND TO BE REPETITIVE – Keep boxes and packing materials intact. If you toss those things before the shipper has time to see them they will do NOTHING, and Atlas will do NOTHING. If the box is damaged and the driver is present, have them make a note and have them wait until you open the package to inspect for damage. Take pictures!
We want you to be more than satisfied with each purchase, and we will make every effort to resolve any issues. All our signs and plaques are personalized items and are non-returnable and non-refundable unless we have committed a documented error. You must examine your order immediately upon receipt and notify us of any errors because we will imply that all is well with your order when you have received it. We can not be responsible for damaged caused by others or for carelessness.
If a return is necessary due to our error, package it at least as good as we packed it for you. We use strong boxes, lots of bubble wrap, and often stiffeners in the boxes. Signs and plaques from Atlas are warrantied for 3 (three) years from date of purchase against coating delamination caused by the elements and not caused by damage. Atlas Signs and Plaques is limited to the repair of, refund of purchase price paid for, or replacement in kind of, at our sole option, any items proved defective, provided the allegedly defective items are returned to Atlas Signs and Plaques. prepaid (see the preceding paragraph regarding packing). We reserve the right to determine whether products are defective. It is strictly our call. Remember these are custom artisan signs and plaques, and do vary.
Item descriptions, prices, and typographical errors are subject to correction by Atlas Signs and Plaques. We are not obligated to honor honest errors or dramatic pricing mistakes.
