Residing within the Victorian Category of Signs and Plaques from Atlas are creations that are suited to the ornamental stylings of the Victorian Era. The Victorian Era was known for its richness of design and orderliness. Every room had a specific purpose and every space had to be decorated.
This over-abundance of decor led to a rebellion of sorts led by William Morris and others and resulted in a return to craftsmanship and simplicity of form and function. We know this transition now as the Arts and Crafts Movement. And although the break wasn’t totally clean with many design elements following, we find it fascinating how excesses precede a cleansing of sorts.
